Lifelines - The blind skater
Johannes is born with an eye condition that causes him to gradually lose his sight. His parents want to ensure he has a good life, but in their desire to protect him, they end up stifling him.
When they send him to a boarding school for the blind, Johannes believes they simply want to get rid of him. As a teenager, however, he connects with non-disabled peers. Together, they help him make up for the youth he had long been denied.
His first long-term relationship also boosts his self-confidence—at least initially—but his girlfriend soon begins to restrict him. Johannes gives up sports, gains a significant amount of weight, and falls into a depression.
When the relationship ends after three years, he hits rock bottom and realizes that things cannot go on like this. At the age of 23, he fulfills a long-held dream: he starts skateboarding.
