Year after year – More than just a family celebration
One family consciously chose to spend Christmas together in a hotel, away from relatives, without the shopping frenzy, and without the obligatory cooking battle. Others spend the holiday helping those in need, bringing a little joy to the homeless on Christmas Eve. And still others retreat for a break, like at Plankstetten Abbey. The film follows people who celebrate the joyous season differently. For the Benedictine monks in the Upper Palatinate, the focus isn't on material things, but on reflecting on what the holiday truly means. Christmas means being together, reflecting, and giving joy. Whether at home or in a monastery, on the street or in a retirement home.
